*heavy breathing* I...I am speechless, this... is so... epic.

AHEM. I just finished reading Yon III WInd (which is the last Xanth book published in my country, sadly) and after Centaur Aisle I became a fanboy. Now please let me calm down and enjoy this beautiful piece of art. BTW, there isn't much good Xanth-related art, is there? I can't find any :(

Let's see...I'm going to guess at the identities of the characters here.

I'm guessing that the central character here is supposed to be Bink, while the man with the mustache and the more Mundane garment is Trent. The centaur is Chester and the spider is Jumper. The dragon is the Gap Dragon, and the woman on the left is Iris. Don't know who the mermaid is.

Xanth is one of my all time favourite fantasy series, and this is one of my all time favourite images of it. Your are wonderful. Brilliant.

So that's what Bink looks like. I'm assuming that's him up in front. Is that Trent behind him with the buzz-cut?
Kweo Featured By Owner Sep 21, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I don't think that's Bink in the front. That might be Dor when he took over the Barbarian when he entered the tapestry.

Could be.

Still have the books; I revisit them from time to time.
I heard talk about movies a few ages ago but the CG technology to make them decent was not available yet...
Perhaps times are better for it now

the first few books had such a strong connection in their plots they could probably start an entire franchise of movies buylt around them

I haven't read Xanth in YEARS. Isn't the author up to like, book 40 or something? Still...incredible work. Very intense, and realistic. I love it.

Dude! You drew this? That was the first Xanth book I read! The art itself is also better than the ones on the other covers if you ask me.

i love piers anthony..i'm trying to find something to color for my own amusement right now from xanth..or i may end up drawing something.

i'm guessing the foremost character is Bink, the man behind him is Crombie...the centaur of course is Chester.i think the white misty woman would be Metria...the dragon could be the dragon Bink and company met and escaped nickelpedes with.can't figure out who the mermaid is.eheh.still,lovely!

Wow awesome!
These books are great, the first bunch of them at least! Definitely gets a bit repetitive after 5 or so though. Although I've only read until the 9th one.

You know they're making a movie of the first one? I heard it'll come out in 2011 or 2012. I really hope they don't screw it up! This series has the potential to be a great trilogy (at least).

i have like 28 of Anthony's books in my collection so far.i love this!okay,i see Bink,Crombie,Chester...but who is the woman above Chester???i can't figure her out!...unless she's Metria.but i don't think she popped up in the book...
Rainb0wC0nd0m Featured By Owner Jan 18, 2010
Ah yes. The Source of Magic. I've completed that book not long ago. It's good.
But... I'm not sure if I am familiar with that guy in back.. wearing green shit?
I know that main guy is Bink, and that Centaur is Chester Centaur. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It's a good book.
TereseNielsen Featured By Owner Jan 19, 2010
I think that was Trent, but it's been about 10 years since I read that. You guessed the others exactly right.
Rainb0wC0nd0m Featured By Owner Jan 19, 2010
Oh yeah. Trent is king in that book. He demanded Bink to find the source of the magic.
Just that he doesn't look how I imagined him. Lol. I have a book "The Guild of Xanth" and Piers had someone draw what Trent looks like in his mind. But of course everyone have their different ways of imagining how people look like.
It's wonderful drawing. I adore it. I tip my hat to you for be the amazing artist, and for doing a drawing of Xanth!

I am "reading" the Xanth books right now on audio book as I work each night. I am LOVING them! Something I usually do to help my entertainment while reading a book is too "cast" actors to play each character. This way I "know" what a character looks and sounds like in my mind and makes the book even more interesting. Here are the actors I think of as I am reading the first three books.

Brendan Fraser as Bink:

Roger Rees as "The Evil Magician" Trent:

Brian Cox as Bink's father Roland:

Burgess Meredith as "The Good Magician" Humphrey:

Chameleon is always changing so hard to think of somebody for her. Any other ideas?
TereseNielsen Featured By Owner Aug 28, 2009
Great picks for the actors. They all work for me.
I know a couple other people that read books and pick what actor/actress seems most appropriate. I personally just sort of let them emerge and morph as I get to know them throughout the book.

Thanks for the post. Very fun!
