Silverskin Armor by TereseNielsen Silverskin Armor by TereseNielsen
Here we have a new Magic the Gathering piece for Mirrodin Besieged. This set releases on February 4th, but since they've previewed this card already, it's safe for me to do the show and tell thing.

It's been a while since I posted any Magic work on DA. As usual, I have some catching up to do. I'm hoping the artists here will enjoy the extra information I added to the blog post [link] about this painting. It mentions some of my thought process behind the image, the mediums I used, sketch, descriptions from the art director, etc.

The image area is 9.75 x 7" and is painted on Epson Velvet Fine Art paper with acrylic, oil, ink, gold/silver leaf and embossing powders.

Limited edition prints available. [link]

No, but seriously, Silverskin Armor by ~TereseNielsen is just awesome. ( Suggested by SeaSpryte and Featured by oilsoaked )

Wow, I really like it. I mean, you just could have made the girl in her armor, but there's all this extra stuff. All these circles with golden and silver patterns remind me of planets or moons, on the right there are cells with organelles, the left corner shows, that the armor becomes part of your flesh and bone, and the whole picture definitely reminds of DaVinci's Vitruv. Though this one is kind of abstract, it looks so much alive. "Wow", yes, that's the right word. I am so glad, that you still use traditional media. I don't think, this stuff would be possible with digital art.

Luckily the cards are so small. If I had seen all this detail before, my head would have been exploded. ;-)

One of the coolest looking pieces of art for a Magic card!
